This initiative is an attempt to revitalize the local community and coexist with the environment by operating the "Fukui WOOD Biomass Center" in collaboration with the local forestry cooperative, and by bringing together different industries in Fukui Prefecture to promote the effective use of thinned wood from local forests.
The center produces wood chips and wood powder from thinned wood produced in the process of forest maintenance (primary industry). The wood chips are then used to produce wood chips and wood powder (primary industry), and the wood powder resin pellets are used as the raw material for the wood-plastic building material "PLUSWOOD" (secondary industry). The wood chips are used as fuel for hot spring showers at hot spring inns, and "Plasud" is used as exterior construction material for public facilities (tertiary industry). The project was awarded the "Good Design Award" (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion).

What is “PLUSWOOD”?
Recycled wood made from a composite material of wood powder and recycled plastic produced using our unique technology. By combining the natural qualities of wood with the durability of resin, it is a new environmentally friendly wood material that can compensate for the shortcomings of each other.
